We got our snow! We woke up to go running on Saturday, and it was snowing! It was beautiful, and has snown a bit each day since. Tracting in the snow is well fun! We literally just run around from house to house, and when we're waiting for the door to open we jump up and down and sing and march in place and clean the snow off doorsteps and windowframes. It keeps us warm and busy and cheery. This really is the best work in all the world!
The other night we were tracting in the snow and were quite frozen and getting rejection after rejection. Then I get a nose bleed to top it off. I was okay at first, but then I started running out of tissues. I was down at the sidewalk trying to get it under control and the Sisters were at a door, once again being turned away. The situation was calling for desperate measures, so I ran up and as soon as the lady saw what was up she softened and let us in. We had a great little visit! She had 3 crazy dogs and they were eating our shoes and absolutely wrecking the house, but we still managed to have a good conversation and teach her a bit about the Plan of Happiness. It was brilliant! Thank the heavens for my occasional nose bleeds.
Monday we had the most amazing experience...It's a little boy named ___, and his mother ____...We talk a bit and then she invites us to sit down and tell her what's different about our church. We whip out a Restoration leaflet and we start going through it with her. She couldn't take her eyes off it. She was reading through it and pointing things out to us and was really feasting upon it. Then we flip to the first page and start to teach her the first principle of the lesson: "God is our loving Heavenly Father. He knows each of us individually and loves us more than we can comprehend." [She] looked up at us, and tears flowed from her eyes. She asked us to pause and we sat in silence as she just looked down at those words in front of her. "I never thought of that," she said, and exclaimed the immense relief that she was feeling, to finally know..."I think we need to turn to Jesus in our good times too and have a relationship with Him before we ask for help, and here it says that part of that is baptism." The Spirit taught her that night. It was nothing we did. Our door approach was awkward and once inside our teaching wasn't anything impressive. But she was taught and edified. There is so much power in just that one thought, that God is our Father. It is an amazing thing to be there when someone realizes that. It is undescribable.
