Welsh Wonders

This week has been a wonder! Sister Clark and I are really loving being here in this part of Wales.  We are trying to follow the words of dear President Hinckley when he said, "Pray like everything depends on the Lord, then work like everything depends on you."

We knocked a blind man's door the other day and he tried to recruit us to join his own church he's created: the Church of Divine Weirdness...it was a fun chat, it was.

We stopped by ____ house one morning and he answered the door all dressed up, Church like. He was soon off to a job interview, so we had a nice little chat and then we were off. Later that night, he called and told us he'd gotten the job! ... that because he'd seen us before he went he was much more approachable and calm and in a better mood for the interview. It's neat being part of miracles, even the tiniest little ones like that. I've really been able to see how much the Lord is concerned about whatever we are concerned about.

There is a woman, a wonderful wonderful old lady. She's like our grandmother here. Anyway, she only joined the church a bit more than a year ago and just went to the temple in January to be sealed to her husband. I've really learned so much from her, but something I learned this week is about answers to prayers. She told us of when [her husband] died...[She tried to get to him to help him, but couldn't].  She prayed, "Dear God in Heaven, help me!" And just as she did so, she heard [him] stop breathing. It is amazing to hear her talk about this because she says that that was an answer to her prayer. Now many could say God didn't answer her prayer, that Graham died so it didn't work. But she knows that it was an answer. I think she shows us exactly how we need to be when we pray, when we ask our Father for something...We must submit as a child to a Father. We are imperfect children with limited wisdom and perspective, but we have a perfect Father with all wisdom and a perspective of the big picture. He knows exactly what we need so we must be truly willing to accept His will, and then to act upon it. I testify that this is the only way for us to be truly happy, especially when we receive unusual, or even seemingly unfair answers to our prayers.
